Call for submission for this year’s Tin Can Tourists Calendar –  ”It’s All In The Details” is the theme.  If there was ever a group into getting the details correct it is the Tin Can Tourists. Michael  Lambert would like folks to send in a photo of the whole rig and a few up close detailed shots of the decor or finishing touches that they have incorporated.  Each month will feature a different unit with the detail shots featured. The  due date of March 1st to be included in this year’s edition.

The Calendars will be available at the 16th Annual Gathering in May  and via mail orders in June.

Email them to Michael Lambert at michael.lambert@sympatico.ca

Michael does a great job on the calendar, but he needs material to do the great productions.

AVON PARK – Remember this song? “The more we get together, together ….”

You were no doubt just a kid, spending a week at summer camp.

But had you been in the Depot Museum this past Sunday afternoon, you would have heard a rousing rendition of that old song, sung by some 60 folks attending a program on the Tin Can Tourists. But more on the song later.

Subject: Modernism Week 2013 Vintage Trailer Show

Hi Forrest -
My husband Doug and I are TCT members and proud owners of four vintage Airstreams.  While we belong to and enjoy our membership in the WBCCI – there’s something special about camping with a wide variety of vintage trailers during TCT rallies.  Doug went to an event hosted by our friends Susan & Gerry Measures this summer up in Vancouver, Canada and came home absolutely raving about the beautiful trailers in attendance.

Two years ago we entered our renovated 1969 AS Tradewind in the Modernism Week Vintage Trailer Show and were thrilled to have our efforts rewarded by receiving the People’s Choice Award.   I’ve been asked by the Modernism Week Committee to manage that event in 2013 and am on a mission to recruit a diverse collection of amazingly beautiful vintage trailers.

Would it be possible for you share the attached Exhibitor and Retail Vendor Applications through a mass mailing to TCT members throughout the US and Canada?   Modernism Week is the perfect backdrop for vintage trailer owners to showcase their design, inspiration and passion for the vintage trailer lifestyle so anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.  If you have any questions or need any additional information please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Beyond tents, there’s a dedicated group of campers who have perfected the art of RV camping – gathering their things in a rolling home and traveling wherever the wind blows them. And while this old-fashioned vacationing has been touched by the modern effects of advanced technology, there are an elite few who hold fast to their motor coaches from the past, embracing their retro tin can as both the vintage vacation vessel and art form it is.

Prince William Forest Park’s Heritage Festival 2012 will take place at
Cabin Camp 3 on October 13th from 11 am to 4 pm.  This year’s Festival is
even more special as it is the festival’s 5th anniversary! Prince William
Forest Park is a national park located adjacent to the United States Marine
Corps Base at Quantico, about 20 miles north of Fredericksburg and 35 miles
south of Washington, DC.

I would like to invite you to showcase your antique to our visitors, which
typically number about 1,000 for the event.  Heritage Festival highlights
the history and heritage of Prince William Forest Park and our surrounding
region.  Though specifically targeted toward the 1930s and 1940s eras in
which our park was founded.  The park was founded as a camping area in 1936
and we would like to highlight all aspects of the history of camping.

We may be able to provide a small stipend to cover your time and travel.
We can also lunch the day of the event and, if needed, a free night’s stay
in a cabin the night before or after the event.  As soon as we have you
confirmed, we will also add a link to your organization from our website.
Your organization will also be on the brochure that we hand out to each and
every visitor who attends the event.  Even more important, we offer the
opportunity for you to tell your story to the hundreds of local residents
who attend.

If you are not able to attend, I kindly ask that you forward this email
others in your trade who you think may be able to work the event for us.

Please reply to this email if you can or cannot attend.  Thank you for your
contributions to our community, and please reply with any questions you may
have.  Thank you!

Dear All,

Thought you might be interested in seeing the evolution of the 1956 Airfloat we acquired last October. More info can be found at http://everyonecandance.com/56_Airfloat.html. I am currently making an aluminum framework for the additions to the original body shape, which are mounted on Sing Panels (singcore.com).

You also might find my daughter’s project intriguing. Most of my time has been spent helping Celina – Blog: http://mytinyabode.blogspot.comhttps://picasaweb.google.com/108019355290317399969/MyTinyAbode02 for
more photos.
