Desert Bloom Rally

Thought you might want a rally report. The “Desert Bloom” event was an understated success. We had six trailers officially, including a 1968 Airstream Caravel, a 1961 Airstream Bambi, a kit-built teardrop, a 1969 Newell motorhome, and two newer Airstreams. But in addition to those, we had a drop-in visit by a 1960s Silver Streak motorhome and three TCT members who arrived without their custom-made GMC bus.

As you’d expect from southern Arizona in late March, the weather was perfect. Thanks to unusually heavy winter rains, the desert was green and the flowers were blooming like mad. Our group had a Saturday pancake brunch outside, and then hiked one of the short trails around Picacho Peak to check out the vistas.

It was a tough place to leave on Sunday. Picacho is one of the many state parks in Arizona threatened by closure, and at this time of year it is also one of the most beautiful. Thanks to some great TCT members, we had a wonderfully relaxing weekend and lots of great conversation. I’ll want to do this one again next year!

Thanks for the opportunity to do this as a TCT event.
