TreeHugger has shown a couple of hotels that are made from old trailers such as Berlin’s Hüttenpalast and a few in California. However we have never seen anything on the scale of Base Camp in Bonn.

The hostel is housed inside a former storage facility in Bonn, Germany and its rates range from $32 to just a little over a hundred dollars per night. The hostel has 120 beds across 15 camping caravans, two night sleepers, and two Airstreams.

There are also a few Volkswagen camper vans parked around the edges.

The exteriors are furnished as well as the interiors, as you might find at a real campground. It’s all designed by film and TV outfitter Marion Seul for hotelier Michael Schloesser.

Washrooms are shared. I don’t know about the particle board walls, not a good choice for public washrooms long term.

PopUp City notes that “The concept is a good way to re-use vacant warehouses like these and offer guests a remarkable experience. ” Indeed. More images atBasecamp
