This vintage 1953 Royal Spartanette is one of the most livable trailers of any period of trailer design, including Airstream. The flat ceiling/roof alone adds headroom and a feeling of spaciousness not found in other trailers. With the addition of warm wood tones provided by the blond maple wall and ceiling surfaces; the period appliances (stove, frig, heater); design details (original formica, light fixtures, headboard, cabinet pulls, bathroom color, vivid original carpet)...all contribute to a sense of traveling back in time to another era, living the lux lfe on the road...My Spartanette is in great shape ready to inhabit. The body is straight except for some damage to the rear door around the window frame.; a tail light is missing; one of the door handles is broken (after market available); and the bottom needs to be re-insulated and repaneled (although not a pressing renovation). The interior is in beautiful condition. I added a custom platform couch/bed with two back bolsters and two deep storage drawers; a Rennai propane heater with thermostat that works great; and a custom truckers tarp that fits the dimensions of the roof for extra weather protection from the heavier rainfall of Willits...
While a fully renovated/tricked out Spartanette can please through custom amenities, there is something about the vibe and feel of an original, vintage interior (the carpet alone is an irreplaceable period artifact). This trailer could be a great guest quarters or airbnb investment.
