This restoration was completed in 2014 by noted vintage trailer restorer, John Palmer. John logged 750 hours of labor.
The floor plan Is Mallard's 1958 plan 17T which allows space for a toilet and a linen closet. The trailer is fully restored. The wood framing was re-built and all damaged wood replaced with new wood. The interior birch paneling includes amber shellac (5 coats) and varnish. The trailer has 1½” rigid foam insulation; a “house wrap” vapor barrier installed under a new aluminum skin; sanded, polished, and re-sealed window frames and eyebrows ; new screens.
The full size “pull out” gaucho bed (74” x 58” doubles as a sofa during the day. The dinette converts into a bed for two allowing the trailer to accommodate four.
Other interior appointments include new Marmoleum flooring, new curtains and upholstery; ceiling mounted privacy curtain; free standing dinette table (can be moved outside); original & extremely rare Astral propane refrigerator / 3-burner stove combination; original porcelain heater and gas lamp.
The trailer has a 30 amp electrical system with new wiring; 12V deep cycle marine battery; dual 12v and 110v lighting systems; 12v porch and step lights; “seven way” trailer plug; electric brakes; powder-coated wheels; white sidewall radial tires; new awning (Marti's Awnings).
The trailer was featured in Vintage Camper Trailers (April 2016, p. 147). It will be on display at the Pismo Vintage Rally, May 13-15, 2021. This is a rare find!
