1955 GMC 1st Series Pickup Witt Custom Camper Top
Bought in 1972 from second owner. 283 Chevy, 12-volt, 4-speed installed before 1972, and an Edelbrock 4-Barrel carburetor.
Otherwise mostly original. Original 15" wheels & Hub Caps, only 600 miles on new Hankook Optimo P225/75 R15 Tires. The spare tire is on the original bracket easily accessible under the rear of the bed. The exhaust manifolds & headers were professionally and very nicely re-done recently.
Had it painted a couple of times, the engine rebuilt once, and have a lot of extra parts and all records for the last 50 years.
That 283 runs great, and the truck drives really well. Cruising across country, it creeps up to 70 if I am not paying attention, then if I hit the gas, it wants to take off, but I never wanted to go much faster.
One of the photos shows the Roberk Junior West Coast Break-away Mirror, with the wide angle spot IN THE MIRROR, NOT STUCK ON. These are great mirrors, and very hard to find now.
I had the camper shell custom built around 1980, wired with 3 ceiling lights, one near the tail gate, easily switched from outside, the other two well forward near the sides, handy for reading. More photos Additional videos available upon request.
