2017 Tin Can Tourists Chautauqua Vintage Trailer Exhibit

January 26, 2017 - January 29, 2017

Venue will be around the lake with electric AND WATER only, nearby restrooms on site. (City has been pleased with the TCT participation and will be installing water hook ups for us this year) There will only be room for about 15~20 vintage rigs (Since it is an exhibit we are asking to keep the year of trailers dating pre 1980 with the excpetion of restro and replica built trailers).
Vintage Trailers will have electrical / water hook ups and will be onsite with a Florida Frontiersman camp, a civil war camp, and a buffalo soldier site.

The Florida Chautauqua Assembly is a 4-day educational program for families featuring famous keynote speakers, educational breakout sessions, performance teas, evening dinner performances and exhibits relating to an annual theme, with tours of the original campus of the Florida Chautauqua Assembly (1885-1927) and a Welcome Party to greet many others attending this historic event.

Join us during our journey this January 26th through the 29th as we explore Science, Technology, Medicine, and Society.

A few teasers for the 2017 Assembly as we finalize the plans.

Performance Tea: Have you ever wondered how Lewis and Clark handled medical issues on their westward journey, join Merriweather Lewis as he discribes his experiance in learning how to care for his fellow explorers during the journey.

Join us on an excursion to a small country church, and learn how these small buildings were so important to the communities that built them, beyond serving as a place to serve the spirtual needs of the community, to serving as community meeting halls, courtrooms, and places of celebration and sadness, the became the rock the community relied on.

Seperate the man from the myth and legend, before his famous experiances in the west, Doc Holiday was a dentist in Georgia. Learn more about his time as a dentist, and the things that shaped this man to become the legend he is known as today.

These sessions and more are being prepared for your enjoyment during the Florida Chautauqua Assembly.

Throughout the weekend, visit with Sidney J Catts, former Governor of Florida, and Meriweather Lewis, that famed explorer of the Westward Expansion. Explore our exhibits on the historic grounds of the Florida Chautauqua located around Lake DeFuniak.
