SUMMARY:TCT’s SHADOW OF THE BEAR
DESCRIPTION:It’s the time of year when our thoughts drift to Michigan in September and TCT’s Shadow Of The Bear Rally. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHey there!Good news and more good news about the location of this year’s rally.  Our beloved Orchard Beach State Park Campground will close the 1st of September.  The good news:  they will undertake upgrades to the bathrooms.  (Including the oldest bathroom with the teeny tiny shower.)  While we are disappointed we will miss all the wonderful that is Orchard Beach\, we are pleased to let you know we will hold our 2025 rally a bit further north and closer to the Sleeping Bear National Park. Our “more good news” is: “Welcome to Roadville’s” Timberline Campground in Benzonia\, MI will be the site of our 9th Annual Shadow Of The Bear Rally.  They have been wonderful to work with! The Rally will return to Orchard Beach State Park for our 10th Annual Rally in 2026. \n\n\n\nOur Rally Hosts are:  Rebecca Shrode & Paul Lashbrook \n\n\n\nContact info:  e-mail is Rebecca@BrookRode.com or send a message to https://www.facebook.com/RebeccaShrode \n\n\n\nText#:  (574) 250-8712 \n\n\n\nMuch of our rally will retain its unique character.  We will gather for Koffee & Kabitzing and breakfast to share our day plans and then again for dinner to share the day’s adventures with one another. As always\, because the local area is so beautiful\, our agenda allows for lots of “touristing” time.  \n\n\n\nNOTES FOR SOTB ‘25:  \n\n\n\n\nDue to popular request: the times for Koffee & Kibitzing\, Breakfast\, and Dinner will move back to a little later time.  The time changes should allow us to sleep in a bit more and do more touristing.\n\n\n\nThe area surrounding our rally is so beautiful and a destination itself. All of us may well be away from the campground most of the day. \n\n\n\nIf you are going to stay at the campground\, would you like for some games\, puzzles\, or other diversions to be  set up? Let us know!\n\n\n\nIf you have been to a TCT gathering\, and experienced a game or other activity\, you would like to see at SOTB\, zip us a note.\n\n\n\nOur “Early Bird/Meet & Greet Dinner” will be on Thursday the 18th and our “Hell No We Won’t Go” Dinner and sunset viewing will be on Sunday the 21st.\n\n\n\n\nMAKING A RESERVATION:       1) Timberline Campground is holding the following campsites for us:  57\, 58\, 59\, 61\, 78\, 79\, 91\, 92\, 93\, 99\, 100\, 101\, 102\, 114\, 115\, 116A.  The campground worked hard to our sites as close as is possible.  \n\n\n\n   \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n           The sites are highlighted on the map included in the attachment to this e-mail.  The campsite map included is an older one. Please work with the staff as they were in the process of renumbering the sites when we talked.    \n\n\n\n You can trust they will get us on the correct sites.  \n\n\n\n       2)  Each site has water & electric and costs $44 week nights (Sun thru Thurs) & $46 weekends (Fri & Sat). \n\n\n\n       3)  Please call the campground this week (April 20th to April 26th) at (231) 882-9548 to make a reservation.  \n\n\n\nPlease let them know you are with TCT’s Vintage Trailer Club so they know where to place you. \n\n\n\nOffice hours:  Monday – Thursday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM \n\n\n\nFriday – Saturday: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM \n\n\n\nSunday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM \n\n\n\n       4)  After you’ve reserved your site\, please zip us a text\, e-mail\, or FB Messenger to let us know your site #.  \n\n\n\n9th Annual TCT Shadow Of The Bear Rally e-mail.docxDownload\n\n\n\nQuestions?  Please ask. \n\n\n\nSee you in September! \n\n\n\nSafe travels! \n\n\n\nRebecca Shrode & Paul Lashbrook

SUMMARY:8th Annual "Campin' the Cumberland Vintage Camper Rally
DESCRIPTION:Somernites Cruise and General Burnside Island State Park are proud to announce the 8th Annual “Campin’ the Cumberland Vintage Camper Rally”!! September 26th-29th\, 2024 at General Burnside Island State Park!! This was a new location for us last year and it was great!! We are excited to be back there!! \n\n\n\nLast years rally saw over 40 vintage campers and was a great success and we are excited for this years event!! \n\n\n\nThurs Sept 26th is check in day. The day is open for setup and to explore the area (and we have a lot to see including Cumberland Falls\, Big South Fork scenic Railway\, Historic Mill Springs Grist Mill\, Mill Springs Civil War Battlefield\, Haney’s Appledale Farms\, etc.) all within a 10 minute to 45 minute drive of the campground. \n\n\n\nFriday Sept 27th is when we have open house scheduled from 2:30 to 5:30. We will be promoting the open house to anyone in our community who may want to come see the campers so bring all your vintage camping supplies\, coolers\, etc.!! You can even set up and sell your goods if you want to!! There is a $10 fee that the Park has to charge if you want to sell items. \n\n\n\nSaturday September 28th is the Somernites Cruise event in historic downtown Somerset (again about 10 minutes from the campground). Gates open at 12:00 (noon). We would like to have about 7-10 really nice vintage campers along with vintage tow vehicles to come display downtown (we understand that means you have to break down and set up again downtown). Our September show is always one of our largest of the year!! We usually have between 1\,000 -1\,500 classic/collector cars & trucks at our September show. If campers prefer not to attend the Somernites Cruise event and would rather explore the community and other attractions that’s OK too. Again\, all Somernites Cruise events are free. Saturday night we will have a pot-luck dinner for all campers. More details will be announced as we get closer to the event!! \n\n\n\nGeneral Burnside Island State Park is offering a 15% discount per night!! We appreciate them working with us!! We currently have 60 campsites blocked off so make your reservations early to ensure you get a site!! Reservations can be made by calling the Campground office at 606-561-3625 or the business office at 606-561-4104. Be sure to tell them that you are booking for the “Campin’ the Cumberland Vintage Camper Rally” to get the discounted rate!! You must call to book one of the reserved sites. If no one answers leave a message and someone will get back to you. You cannot make online reservations. \n\n\n\nContact Keith Floyd either by email at kfloyd@somernitescruise.com or phone at 606-872-2277 with any questions. \n\n\n\nWe’ll see you there!!

SUMMARY:TCT’s SHADOW OF THE BEAR
DESCRIPTION:Rally hosts:  Rebecca Shrode & Paul Lashbrook \n\n\n\nContact info:  e-mail is Rebecca@BrookRode.com or send a message to https://www.facebook.com/RebeccaShrode \n\n\n\nTCT’s 8th Annual Shadow Of The Bear RallyOrchard Beach State Park\, Manistee\, MichiganSeptember 19 to 22\, 2024We are very excited for TCT’s 8th Annual Shadow Of The Bear Rally at beautiful Orchard Beach State Park in Manistee\, Michigan.  Last year was wonderful!  The weather was Pure Michigan Autumn perfect!  Orchard Beach is a wonderful state park and perfect to be the home of Shadow Of The Bear.  The campground is located on the top of a sand dune; many of our campsites have a view of Lake Michigan. We sit at our campsites enjoying each other’s company\, we watch the eagles soar while riding on the thermals over the lake.  It is so cool!  We enjoy taking our meals in the moved and refreshed Pavilion.  The size of the Pavilion will accommodate all of us – as many of us as are in attendance can enjoy our meals together.  \n\n\n\nTCT’s Shadow Of The Bear is a unique rally.  Because the local area is so beautiful\, our agenda allows for lots of “touristing” time. Orchard Beach State Park is a beautiful destination on its own for a vacation.  There are wineries & craft breweries nearby\, cute small towns to visit\, and beauty all around.  Our agenda is simple.  We gather together for breakfast and share our plans for the day.  Most of the day is free for what we call “touristing.”  We come back together for dinner and share our adventures of the day.  Each evening we gather round campfires.  Perfect Fall camping in one of the most beautiful parts of Michigan. \n\n\n\nA couple housekeeping reminders: 1)  To reserve a site: log into your account in the State’s reservation system https://midnrreservations.com/ and use the Group Hold function. \n\n\n\nThe Group Hold Code is:  Shadow2024The hold is for sites in the “A-H\, 28-77\, 108-136\, Cabins” section of the campground map.\n\n\n\nThe group hold will remain in place until April 16\, 2024.  The open sites will be available to the public. The campsites at Orchard Beach are large and feel spread out.  Last year\, we discussed getting our group closer together.  We thought clustering around the Hostess/Host site would be best.  Please reserve your site as near to the host site #120 as possible. \n\n\n\nTCT’s Shadow Of The Bear is September 19 to 22.  You are invited to come early and stay late.  See you there!!!!!2)  Rally fee:  $45:  you can pay by PayPal. Our PayPal user name is ContactUs@BrookRode.com   \n\n\n\nYou may also send a check.  If you use the USPS\, please mail the check sooner rather than later.  \n\n\n\nAddress is:  Rebecca Shrode\, 19019 Waite Blvd. South Bend\, IN  46637.  \n\n\n\nPlease note:  rally fees are due before the event happens because most of the expenses for the rally happen before the gathering begins. \n\n\n\nThe first 7 Shadow Of The Bear rallies were so much fun.  We relaxed\, made new friends\, grew existing friendships\, enjoyed lively conversation\, and generally had a really good time.  We are looking forward to the 8th Annual TCT Shadow Of The Bear Rally being the best yet!Safe travels & happy camping!Rebecca & Paul  \n\n\n\nIvory  \n\n\n\n$45 Rally Fee \n\n\n\nRebecca Shrode \n\n\n\nView Organizer Website \n\n\n\nRebecca@BrookRode.com

DESCRIPTION:RALLY SOLD OUT IN TWO DAYS \n\n\n\nHow to be added to the waitlist for the rally – Go here https://huroncountyparks.com/waiting-list to join the list\, or email info@huroncountyparks.com or leave a message at 888-265-2583 \n\n\n\n—– \n\n\n\nYou must be a TCT Member to attend this event. You can join the club here: TCT Membership – Tin Can Tourists \n\n\n\nLast year we had a large amount of non-members that somehow booked sites. Please do not share the registration link with friends\, you are taking away opportunities from our TCT members. That is the purpose of the rally. If you want to camp with personal friends\, you can do that any weekend. If you have friends that want to camp with us during the rally\, just have them join the club – it really is that simple. \n\n\n\nWagener County Park staff loved having us at their beautiful park on Lake Huron and have invited us back in 2023.  \n\n\n\nRegistration Process: \n\n\n\nRegistration will open on November 2nd. Complete these TWO simple steps: \n\n\n\n\nWe will send out registration information on November 2nd by email to TCT members only. This will give our TCT members the information first before it gets shared publicly. Do not share the information on social media.\n\n\n\nUse this link to book your site (will be available on November 4th on the website if sites are still available)\n\n\n\nEmail us at tct1919@gmail.com and let us know what site you booked to be included on the roster.\n\n\n\n\nA modest rally fee of $10 will be collected at the park to pay for morning coffee & treats and a few activities. \n\n\n\nAGENDA \n\n\n\n2024-Thumbs-Up-Rally-1Download\n\n\n\n\nCoffee/Treats each morning\n\n\n\nFarmers Markets\n\n\n\nYard Game on Friday evening\n\n\n\nCrazy theme for Friday’s games\n\n\n\nExciting prizes and awards\n\n\n\nOpen House on Saturday\n\n\n\nLight house and brewery/winery tours\n\n\n\nChilling by the campfire\n\n\n\n\nMake sure you read and understand their refund rules for the campsites. \n\n\n\nROSTER – TBD means a booked site but we weren’t informed of who is camping there. Join the club here: TCT Membership – Tin Can Tourists \n\n\n\nIn 2024\, the campground is blocking off 50 sites for us to group closer together. The park loved having us and were really supportive of the event. \n\n\n\nRegistration Process\n\n\n\nStep 1) Get your camp site using the Michigan State Park Reservation System (https://www.midnrreservations.com/) or by calling 1-800-447-2757 (1-800-44PARKS) \n\n\n\nThe Group Hold code has expired – the process now is to get any campsite available and then go to step 2. \n\n\n\nGROUP HOLD: Lumberjack2024 \n\n\n\nThe hold code applies to 50 sites that are grouped together for the club. You are more than welcome to get any other site that is nearby if you’d prefer or if you have a need that another site might provide – like a 50amp site\, handicap site or a site closer to the bathroom/showers. \n\n\n\nSITE 136 – Host: Terry and Michelle Bone \n\n\n\nSITE 194 – Morning Coffee: Steve Brown & Sandy Masten (no dogs allowed at coffee) \n\n\n\nStep 2) RSVP that you’re attending by emailing tct1919@gmail.com and let us know what campsite you ended up with – we’d like to know how many are coming for the welcome packets and coffee/treat planning! \n\n\n\nThis is a casual weekend and open house (12-3pm) to get introduced to the state park and local community. We will be planning on a few group activities: Molkky Tournament\, a Happy Hour\, New Member initiation\, and coffee will be provided. Agenda will be posted a few months out from the event. \n\n\n\nTentative Agenda\n\n\n\nThursday\n\n\n\n\n6pm Pickup – Welcome Packet at Rally Host Campsite (136) – collecting $10 rally fee for Coffee / Morning Treats and cocktail hour snacks.
