Roadside lodging would soon evolve into quaint cabin courts in the 1930s\, offering more substantial lodgings\, and eventually into more modern motels in the 1940s\, ‘50sand ‘60s.This highly visual talk is filled with period postcards as well as vintage and contemporary photography and as it will highlight many of the classic tourist courts and motels still in operation along the route\, it is a “must see” for anyone planning a road trip to get their kicks on 66! \n\n\n\nRally Theme\n\n\n\nSchool Spirit – show some school pride\, whether from your high school or college. SUMMARY:Tin Can Tourists' Mississippi Tiki Beach Rally
DESCRIPTION:Tin Can Tourists’ Mississippi Tiki Beach Rally! \n\n\n\nWhen: May 28-31\, 2026Where: Buccaneer State Park\, Waveland\, Mississippi \n\n\n\nRegistration: No rally fee is required. To secure your spot\, book your site directly through the Mississippi State Park website: https://reserve.mdwfp.com/. Be sure to select Buccaneer State Park and choose your preferred site from the 250 full hookup options available. \n\n\n\nSite Selection: The main TCT area will be located in the Gulf View sites (#207-#250)\, which are situated almost directly on the beach. However\, members are free to book any site that suits their preferences. Some factors to consider when choosing your site: \n\n\n\n• Gulf View sites: These sites are in full sun\, but the sea breeze can make them feel cooler than the inland sites with partial or full shade. Additionally\, the ocean breeze tends to keep flying insects at bay. Keep in mind that the bathhouse is a bit of a walk from these sites\, so you may want to consider biking or driving to the bathrooms. There are also two beach side tiny homes that are can be reserved in the Gulf View sites if your trailer is not road ready and you still want to attend!  \n\n\n\n• Inland sites: These sites are closer to the bathrooms and showers\, but may have more flying insects due to the lack of breeze. If you prefer an inland site\, the ‘Jean Lafitte’ loop (sites #1-25) would be a good option\, as they’re relatively close to the main TCT area. \n\n\n\nPark Amenities: Buccaneer State Park offers a range of amenities to enhance your stay\, including: \n\n\n\n• Water Park: Enjoy several water slides\, a wave pool\, kids’ area\, café\, sun decks\, and cabanas. Admission is $21 per adult for a full day\, or $13 after 2 pm. \n\n\n\n• Vintage Campground Pool: For just $6 per day\, you can enjoy the vintage pool\, which features two waterfalls and provides a great way to cool off. Your armband allows for in-and-out privileges. \n\n\n\n• Hiking Trails: Explore the park’s natural beauty on foot or by bike. \n\n\n\n• Camp Store: Stock up on supplies and souvenirs at the park’s convenient store. \n\n\n\n• Playground: Let the kids burn off energy at the park’s playground. \n\n\n\n• Fishing: Try your luck at catching some fish in the local waters. \n\n\n\nSurrounding Area: The park is located near several popular attractions and amenities\, including: \n\n\n\n• Miles of biking and walking trails along the water• Public fishing piers• Casinos• Nearby towns:o Waveland (7 miles)o Bay St Louis (12 miles)o Gulfport (22 miles)o Biloxi (47 miles)o New Orleans (57 miles) \n\n\n\nRally Schedule: This will be a relaxed rally\, allowing plenty of time for socializing\, exploring\, and enjoying the park’s amenities. We’ll have a TIKI Beach Party potluck on Friday evening\, which is a great opportunity to meet new members and have some fun. \n\n\n\nAfter booking your site\, please send an email to TCT.Heintz@Gmail.com with your name and site number to add yourself to the list. This will help us keep track of attendees and ensure everyone has a great time. We look forward to seeing you at the rally!

SUMMARY:TCT Route 66 Centennial Caravan
DESCRIPTION:***** THE EVENT IS SOLD OUT – TO BE PLACED ON A WAITING LIST\, EMAIL TCT1919@GMAIL.COM ***** \n\n\n\nThe Tin Can Tourists will be celebrating the Centennial Anniversary of Route 66 by hosting two caravans that both end up in Texas. The Eastern Caravan will go from Illinois to Texas. \n\n\n\nWe are an official Route 66 Centennial event recognized by the Route 66 Centennial Planning Commission. https://route66centennial.org \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEASTERN CARAVAN \n\n\n\nWe’ve reached the limit of 25 trailers/motorcoaches for the Eastern Caravan and booking of campgrounds is nearly complete. After the caravan participants have booked their sites\, if anyone wants to participate along the caravan route\, we will provide the campground information and they can make reservations at the same campgrounds if sites are available but that might mean a nearby campground. We will welcome all to rally with us at the final destination\, which should have ample room for everyone. We will bring extra caravan merchandise that you can buy in Amarillo.  \n\n\n\nThe Eastern Caravan will stop in these towns along the eastern part of Route 66: \n\n\n\n\nSunday\, June 7th – Springfield\, Illinois \n\n\n\nMonday\, June 8th – Waynesville\, Missouri \n\n\n\nTuesday\, June 9th – Claremore\, Oklahoma\n\n\n\nWednesday\, June 10th – Foss\, Oklahoma\n\n\n\nThursday\, June 11th – Sunday\, June 14th\, Amarillo TX – https://www.visitamarillo.com/events/route-66/\n\n\n\nReturning home will be at your pace and up to you to schedule – you could stay down in Texas for awhile with friends from the caravan\, head to a different part of the country to visit a National Park you’ve never experienced\, or rush home for work!\n\n\n\n\nThe caravans are purposely planned to be a slow pace of 200-250 and a consistent drive each day. We will provide a list of places to stop along the route to sightsee and to take pictures. \n\n\n\nWe have room for 25 vintage trailers on the Eastern Caravan. \n\n\n\nWe also expect that TCT members may want to join us at any point in the route or join us at the final campground for the Route 66 festival in Amarillo\, Texas. That would be great and totally an option. \n\n\n\nWESTERN CARAVAN\n\n\n\nThe Western Caravan will stop in these towns along the western part of Route 66: \n\n\n\n\nSunday\, June 7th – Mother Road Museum – Barstow\, California \n\n\n\nMonday\, June 8th – Seligman\, AZ\n\n\n\nTuesday\, June 9th – Gallup NM\n\n\n\nWednesday\, June 10th – Santa Rosa\, NM\n\n\n\nThursday\, June 11th – Sunday\, June 14th\, Amarillo TX – https://www.visitamarillo.com/events/route-66/\n\n\n\nReturning home will be at your pace and up to you to schedule – you could stay down in Texas for awhile with friends from the caravan\, head to a different part of the country to visit a National Park you’ve never experienced\, or rush home for work!\n\n\n\n\nThe caravans are purposely planned to be a slow pace and a consistent drive each day. We will provide a list of places to stop along the route to sightsee and to take pictures. \n\n\n\nWe have room for 25 vintage trailers to be on the Western Caravan but we aren’t limited to that. The limitation is just based on how many campsites are being reserved for us right now. \n\n\n\nWe also expect that TCT members may want to join us at any point in the route or join us at the final campground for the Route 66 festival in Amarillo\, Texas. SUMMARY:6th Annual Thumbs Up Rally
DESCRIPTION:This rally is always the last full weekend in July! \n\n\n\nThis year’s theme is tentatively set as “The County Fair” – we are planning to play County Fair games\, have traditional best baked competitions\, and have a great time! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow to be added to the waitlist for the rally – email tct1919@gmail.com and we will let you know if we hear of an opening or cancellation. \n\n\n\n—– \n\n\n\nYou must be a TCT Member to attend this event. You can join the club here: TCT Membership – Tin Can Tourists \n\n\n\nIn previous years\, we had a large amount of non-members that somehow booked sites. Please do not share the registration link with friends\, you are taking away opportunities from our TCT members. That is the purpose of the rally. If you want to camp with personal friends\, you can do that any weekend. If you have friends that want to camp with us during the rally\, just have them join the club – it really is that simple. \n\n\n\nWagener County Park staff love having us at their beautiful park on Lake Huron and have invited us back in 2026.  \n\n\n\nRegistration Process: \n\n\n\nRegistration will open on November 4th\, 2026 and closes on November 23rd. Complete these TWO simple steps: \n\n\n\n\nLINK TO REGISTER – Do not share the information on social media. Please note you will need to change the end date from Saturday July 25th to the correct date of Sunday July 26th. The rally is from July 23 – 26. \n\n\n\nEmail us at tct1919@gmail.com and let us know what site you booked to be included on the roster below.\n\n\n\n\nA modest rally fee of $10 will be collected at the park to pay for morning coffee & treats and a few activities. \n\n\n\nHere is the 2025 AGENDA to see the types of activities we did last year. We are working on the 2026 Agenda \n\n\n\n2025 Thumbs Up RallyDownload\n\n\n\nMake sure you read and understand their refund rules for the campsites. \n\n\n\nROSTER as of 02/02/2026 – \n\n\n\n50 sites booked. If you see TBD next to your site\, please email tct1919@gmail.com so we can add your name to the roster \n\n\n\nSite #Name1Cheryl & Mike O’Connor23Jim and Nancy Warner4Stephanie & Terry Barnum5Jennifer Colling & Byron Leach6Karen & Greg Koenig7Jenny & Jason Senior8Terry & Michelle Bone9Kirk & Beth Olmsted10Jason & Angie Black11Tami & Jake Moomey12Jan Roselle13Dave & Amy Fiore14Alicia Barnes and Terri Sibo15Bob & Doreen Bergman16Gene & Sharol Brechtelsbauer17Terri & Dan Closs19Terry and Michele Fleming20Pam Garlow21aSandy Mastin & Steve Brown21Shelley Norris 22Sandi Jo & Kyle Albrecht23Jeff & Michele Miller24Diana Hadad & Michael Pierce25Steve & Patty Collins26Jeanne & Brian Bosch27Chris Brown and Molly Bacon28Kim & Dan Renkema29Roo & Amanda Ryan30Rebecca Shrode & Paul Lashbrook31Kim Sensiba32Todd and Amy Smith33Dalton & Barb Colling34Traci Howden35Stacey Peake36Gayle Richards and Alison3738TBD39TBD40Bob Solsbury4142Dale and Marie Patten43Paul and Jane Carson4445Chris and Marsha Poshadlo46Linda & Ron Wendt47Janet Boutilier4849Don Gonczy505152Maureen Shiffler53TBD545556TBD5758596061626364Sucile & David Mellor656667TBD68101102103104105CABINKay Solsbury\n\n\n\nSend an email to Terry & Michelle Bone – tct1919@gmail.com with your name\, site number and trailer information
