SUMMARY:TCT’s SHADOW OF THE BEAR
DESCRIPTION:It’s the time of year when our thoughts drift to Michigan in September and TCT’s Shadow Of The Bear Rally. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHey there!Good news and more good news about the location of this year’s rally.  Our beloved Orchard Beach State Park Campground will close the 1st of September.  The good news:  they will undertake upgrades to the bathrooms.  (Including the oldest bathroom with the teeny tiny shower.)  While we are disappointed we will miss all the wonderful that is Orchard Beach\, we are pleased to let you know we will hold our 2025 rally a bit further north and closer to the Sleeping Bear National Park. Our “more good news” is: “Welcome to Roadville’s” Timberline Campground in Benzonia\, MI will be the site of our 9th Annual Shadow Of The Bear Rally.  They have been wonderful to work with! The Rally will return to Orchard Beach State Park for our 10th Annual Rally in 2026. \n\n\n\nOur Rally Hosts are:  Rebecca Shrode & Paul Lashbrook \n\n\n\nContact info:  e-mail is Rebecca@BrookRode.com or send a message to https://www.facebook.com/RebeccaShrode \n\n\n\nText#:  (574) 250-8712 \n\n\n\nMuch of our rally will retain its unique character.  We will gather for Koffee & Kabitzing and breakfast to share our day plans and then again for dinner to share the day’s adventures with one another. As always\, because the local area is so beautiful\, our agenda allows for lots of “touristing” time.  \n\n\n\nNOTES FOR SOTB ‘25:  \n\n\n\n\nDue to popular request: the times for Koffee & Kibitzing\, Breakfast\, and Dinner will move back to a little later time.  The time changes should allow us to sleep in a bit more and do more touristing.\n\n\n\nThe area surrounding our rally is so beautiful and a destination itself. All of us may well be away from the campground most of the day. \n\n\n\nIf you are going to stay at the campground\, would you like for some games\, puzzles\, or other diversions to be  set up? Let us know!\n\n\n\nIf you have been to a TCT gathering\, and experienced a game or other activity\, you would like to see at SOTB\, zip us a note.\n\n\n\nOur “Early Bird/Meet & Greet Dinner” will be on Thursday the 18th and our “Hell No We Won’t Go” Dinner and sunset viewing will be on Sunday the 21st.\n\n\n\n\nMAKING A RESERVATION:       1) Timberline Campground is holding the following campsites for us:  57\, 58\, 59\, 61\, 78\, 79\, 91\, 92\, 93\, 99\, 100\, 101\, 102\, 114\, 115\, 116A.  The campground worked hard to our sites as close as is possible.  \n\n\n\n   \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n           The sites are highlighted on the map included in the attachment to this e-mail.  The campsite map included is an older one. Please work with the staff as they were in the process of renumbering the sites when we talked.    \n\n\n\n You can trust they will get us on the correct sites.  \n\n\n\n       2)  Each site has water & electric and costs $44 week nights (Sun thru Thurs) & $46 weekends (Fri & Sat). \n\n\n\n       3)  Please call the campground this week (April 20th to April 26th) at (231) 882-9548 to make a reservation.  \n\n\n\nPlease let them know you are with TCT’s Vintage Trailer Club so they know where to place you. \n\n\n\nOffice hours:  Monday – Thursday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM \n\n\n\nFriday – Saturday: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM \n\n\n\nSunday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM \n\n\n\n       4)  After you’ve reserved your site\, please zip us a text\, e-mail\, or FB Messenger to let us know your site #.  \n\n\n\n9th Annual TCT Shadow Of The Bear Rally e-mail.docxDownload\n\n\n\nQuestions?  Please ask. \n\n\n\nSee you in September! \n\n\n\nSafe travels! \n\n\n\nRebecca Shrode & Paul Lashbrook

Be sure to book early as we only have 130 elect/water sites\, in addition to a dry camping field\, and the event will fill up fast!  \n\n\n\nPlease note there are two different registration forms attached to this email\, one for attending the event with a trailer and one for those that want to attend but do not have a trailer and wish to stay nearby by acquiring their own accommodations and attending the daily rally events with a gate pass.  \n\n\n\n DATES: \n\n\n\nThe official convention dates will be February 19-22\, 2026 with February 18th being an optional early arrival day. Remember\, like last year no member will be allowed to arrive on site earlier than the 18th of February as this venue is not a public RV park and we are only contracted to have our members arrive on the specific rally days. If you are traveling long distance and plan to arrive in the general area earlier\, you will need to make arrangements at a nearby RV park/state park until the gates open at noon February 18th 2026. The venue has agreed that anyone that wants to stay a night or two AFTER the official rally may do so for an additional $30.00 per night paid in person to the venue host (Dave) at the conclusion of the event. \n\n\n\nCHECK IN: \n\n\n\nTCT will have a large number of rigs arriving on Wednesday and Thursday. We are asking members to arrive at the park between noon-4:30pm EST if possible and please be patient as we direct all rigs during parking. Official check in will occur at the gate when you arrive. If arriving after hours and need assistance in parking please contact Tim Heintz once you arrive by calling 850.739.0237 \n\n\n\nTCT campsite parking is all ‘First Come First Served’. There is the option of registering for a 30 amp Electric/Water site OR a dry camping area. The Dry Camping area does have some water hook ups in the general area for filling tanks and if you want to park near a water hook up in the dry camping area it will be a first come first serve basis. Generators will be allowed in the Dry Camping area only\, and designated hours to run generators will be 9am-11am and 6pm-8pm only please. There is a dump station on site for all members to use.   \n\n\n\nThere is a bathhouse onsite and there will be additional port-o-lets for the dry camping area\, pavilion\, and those sites furthest from the main bathhouse. \n\n\n\n If you do not pick up your registration bag on Wednesday you may pick it up at the gate on Thursday from 11am-430pm or at the Thursday evening Meet and Greet. \n\n\n\n Attending without a trailer (Staying elsewhere): \n\n\n\n Attention TCTers! Roadside lodging would soon evolve into quaint cabin courts in the 1930s\, offering more substantial lodgings\, and eventually into more modern motels in the 1940s\, ‘50sand ‘60s.This highly visual talk is filled with period postcards as well as vintage and contemporary photography and as it will highlight many of the classic tourist courts and motels still in operation along the route\, it is a “must see” for anyone planning a road trip to get their kicks on 66! \n\n\n\nRally Theme\n\n\n\nSchool Spirit – show some school pride\, whether from your high school or college. SUMMARY:Tin Can Tourists' Mississippi Tiki Beach Rally
DESCRIPTION:Tin Can Tourists’ Mississippi Tiki Beach Rally! \n\n\n\nWhen: May 28-31\, 2026Where: Buccaneer State Park\, Waveland\, Mississippi \n\n\n\nRegistration: No rally fee is required. To secure your spot\, book your site directly through the Mississippi State Park website: https://reserve.mdwfp.com/. Be sure to select Buccaneer State Park and choose your preferred site from the 250 full hookup options available. \n\n\n\nSite Selection: The main TCT area will be located in the Gulf View sites (#207-#250)\, which are situated almost directly on the beach. However\, members are free to book any site that suits their preferences. Some factors to consider when choosing your site: \n\n\n\n• Gulf View sites: These sites are in full sun\, but the sea breeze can make them feel cooler than the inland sites with partial or full shade. Additionally\, the ocean breeze tends to keep flying insects at bay. Keep in mind that the bathhouse is a bit of a walk from these sites\, so you may want to consider biking or driving to the bathrooms. There are also two beach side tiny homes that are can be reserved in the Gulf View sites if your trailer is not road ready and you still want to attend!  \n\n\n\n• Inland sites: These sites are closer to the bathrooms and showers\, but may have more flying insects due to the lack of breeze. If you prefer an inland site\, the ‘Jean Lafitte’ loop (sites #1-25) would be a good option\, as they’re relatively close to the main TCT area. \n\n\n\nPark Amenities: Buccaneer State Park offers a range of amenities to enhance your stay\, including: \n\n\n\n• Water Park: Enjoy several water slides\, a wave pool\, kids’ area\, café\, sun decks\, and cabanas. Admission is $21 per adult for a full day\, or $13 after 2 pm. \n\n\n\n• Vintage Campground Pool: For just $6 per day\, you can enjoy the vintage pool\, which features two waterfalls and provides a great way to cool off. Your armband allows for in-and-out privileges. \n\n\n\n• Hiking Trails: Explore the park’s natural beauty on foot or by bike. \n\n\n\n• Camp Store: Stock up on supplies and souvenirs at the park’s convenient store. \n\n\n\n• Playground: Let the kids burn off energy at the park’s playground. \n\n\n\n• Fishing: Try your luck at catching some fish in the local waters. \n\n\n\nSurrounding Area: The park is located near several popular attractions and amenities\, including: \n\n\n\n• Miles of biking and walking trails along the water• Public fishing piers• Casinos• Nearby towns:o Waveland (7 miles)o Bay St Louis (12 miles)o Gulfport (22 miles)o Biloxi (47 miles)o New Orleans (57 miles) \n\n\n\nRally Schedule: This will be a relaxed rally\, allowing plenty of time for socializing\, exploring\, and enjoying the park’s amenities. We’ll have a TIKI Beach Party potluck on Friday evening\, which is a great opportunity to meet new members and have some fun. \n\n\n\nAfter booking your site\, please send an email to TCT.Heintz@Gmail.com with your name and site number to add yourself to the list. This will help us keep track of attendees and ensure everyone has a great time. We look forward to seeing you at the rally!
