New Member Interview – Brad and Connie Bihner

Can you tell us about how you got into the vintage trailer hobby?

We bought a 1956 Flxible Visicoach bus about 10 years ago, gutted the interior and rebuilt into a modern RV. I recently started looking at vintage campers and fell in love with the “alien eyes” of the Silver Streak Clipper. We just recently found a very rough one in Minnesota and hauled it back home to Houston on a U-haul car hauler trailer. I’m looking forward to getting started on this, my next, project.

What type of trailers have you owned and what do you have now? What is your dream vintage trailer?

The 1949 Clipper is our only trailer at this point but would like to find another one in the near future. We still have the 34 foot Flxible bus RV. The Silver Streak at this point is our dream camper and we are hopeful that it will turn out to be as beautiful as some we’ve seen on line.

What do you tow with?

We actually do not have a tow vehicle, we borrowed our son’s SUV to haul it home.

Why did you decide to join the Tin Can Tourists?

It appears that your site is the leading resource for the acquisition and restoration of vintage trailers. This is where we found our Clipper.

What are your camping plans for this year?

We don’t have any plans yet for the Clipper since it will probably be a year or two before its ready to travel. However, we are planning on taking the bus out next month for a short outing.
