Can you tell us about how you got into the vintage trailer hobby?
Well actually, we are not totally newbies with TCT. We joined this fun and informative group back approximately 10 years ago. We bought a 1958 Trotwood and jumped right in with the restoration and sponsored Rallies through TCT. We had wonderful times and shared a lot of laughs with the other members through the Club’s sponsored Rallies and Events.
What type of trailers have you owned and what do you have now? What is your dream vintage trailer?
We have a 1958 Trotwood. We restored her inside to the point we are satisfied with, but at some time we might like to strip down the exterior paint and do a redo. We have also owned numerous larger fifth wheels that we used on seasonal sites over the last 9 or 10 years. They had all the bells and whistles…refrigerators : ), fireplaces, air-conditions, walk-in showers, ceiling fans etc…..but what they didn’t have is the “heart and soul” of our all-time favorite RV, Elise, the 1958 Trotwood. ( Named after Jane Seymore’s role in Somewhere In Time ) We also missed the life of being a “wanderer”, the friends we made in TCT and the spontaneity of going different places. I have so many dream trailers, but I think Spartans lead the list.
What do you tow with?
We tow the camper with a truck…GMC something or the other !!! I’m into the camper. : )
Do you attend rallies and what do you like the most about attending a rally?
Yes, we used to attend many of the Rallies. We kind of fell out of the rally circuit when we got the seasonal site, of which we no longer have. What we like best….is THE PEOPLE.
Why did you decide to join the Tin Can Tourists?
We re-joined because we know what we were missing. Friends, fun, and laughter.
We joined again to be part of the fun and nicely organized events. It makes life easy….just pack and show up.
What are your camping plans for this year?
This will be the last camping adventure we have on our calendar for this season. But we are known to be spontaneous……so ya never know where we might end up !!! Life’s an adventure.
