New Member Interview with Sharon and Gary Hunter

Can you tell us about how you got into the vintage trailer hobby?

It was a joke. We have always been into old cars and hot rods. I told my husband I wouldn’t mind a vintage rv. He laughed and said if I could find one, we would take a look. Well that’s all I needed. Finding an RV was not easy especially on the east coast so I looked for a travel trailer. After a few months one came for sale in the Vintage Camping Trailer Magazine near us. Once I showed him the pictures of the 1972 Holiday Vacationer,  he said let’s go get it. There was no doubt once we saw it, it was coming home with us.

What type of trailers have you owned and what do you have now? What is your dream vintage trailer?

Our 72 Holiday Vacationer is our first one. Unless a vintage RV comes up that we would want, we a satisfied with this one.

What do you tow with?

Right now we tow with my 11 Chevy Silverado.

Do you attend rallies and what do you like the most about attending a rally?

We have owned it for 3 years and have attended a few vintage rallies. We really enjoy seeing what everyone has done to their trailers and the friendships we’ve formed.

Why did you decide to join the Tin Can Tourists?

We mostly decided to join for the experience and to find other rallies.

What are your camping plans for this year?

Basically we are done for the year.  Looking forward to expanding our camping rallies next year.
