TCT’s SHADOW OF THE BEAR

It’s the time of year when our thoughts drift to Michigan in September and TCT’s Shadow Of The Bear Rally.

Hey there!
Good news and more good news about the location of this year’s rally.  Our beloved Orchard Beach State Park Campground will close the 1st of September.  The good news:  they will undertake upgrades to the bathrooms.  (Including the oldest bathroom with the teeny tiny shower.)  While we are disappointed we will miss all the wonderful that is Orchard Beach, we are pleased to let you know we will hold our 2025 rally a bit further north and closer to the Sleeping Bear National Park. Our “more good news” is: “Welcome to Roadville’s” Timberline Campground in Benzonia, MI will be the site of our 9th Annual Shadow Of The Bear Rally.  They have been wonderful to work with! The Rally will return to Orchard Beach State Park for our 10th Annual Rally in 2026.

Much of our rally will retain its unique character.  We will gather for Koffee & Kabitzing and breakfast to share our day plans and then again for dinner to share the day’s adventures with one another. As always, because the local area is so beautiful, our agenda allows for lots of “touristing” time. 

NOTES FOR SOTB ‘25: 

1. Due to popular request: the times for Koffee & Kibitzing, Breakfast, and Dinner will move back to a little later time.  The time changes should allow us to sleep in a bit more and do more touristing.
2. The area surrounding our rally is so beautiful and a destination itself. All of us may well be away from the campground most of the day. 
3. If you are going to stay at the campground, would you like for some games, puzzles, or other diversions to be  set up? Let us know!
4. If you have been to a TCT gathering, and experienced a game or other activity, you would like to see at SOTB, zip us a note.
5. Our “Early Bird/Meet & Greet Dinner” will be on Thursday the 18th and our “Hell No We Won’t Go” Dinner and sunset viewing will be on Sunday the 21st.

MAKING A RESERVATION:
       1) Timberline Campground is holding the following campsites for us:  57, 58, 59, 61, 78, 79, 91, 92, 93, 99, 100, 101, 102, 114, 115, 116A.  The campground worked hard to our sites as close as is possible. 

           The sites are highlighted on the map included in the attachment to this e-mail.  The campsite map included is an older one. Please work with the staff as they were in the process of renumbering the sites when we talked.   

 You can trust they will get us on the correct sites. 

       2)  Each site has water & electric and costs $44 week nights (Sun thru Thurs) & $46 weekends (Fri & Sat).

       3)  Please call the campground this week (April 20th to April 26th) at (231) 882-9548 to make a reservation. 

Please let them know you are with TCT’s Vintage Trailer Club so they know where to place you.

Sunday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
