American Travel Trailer
History
American Trailer Company was formed when Norman Wolfe bought the remains of the Ideal Manufacturing Company who made Stagecoach brand trailers in Mishawaka, IN after a huge fire destroyed the entire factory and moved the company to available manufacturing space about 15 miles away in Cassopolis, MI. The stagecoach trailer that Henry Ford bought and “loaned” to Charles Lindberg (now displayed at Henry Ford Museum) was made by Ideal who only existed for about 2 years. Lindberg and his family used the unit for about 10 years then returned it to Ford.
