Can you tell us about how you got into the vintage trailer hobby?
When I was in my 20s (long time ago), I saw an Airstream parked on the road in town and from that moment on, I decided I had to have one someday. That “someday” came about 15 years ago when a pastor living three miles away had a ‘66 Safari for sale. I bought it, took it apart and it’s currently hanging in my barn waiting for a new subfloor. Since then, I won a ‘64 TradeWind in a raffle, sold it and used the money to buy a ‘55 18-footer.
What type of trailers have you owned and what do you have now? What is your dream vintage trailer?
See above
What do you tow with?
2018 Ford F-150 but looking for ‘59 Chevy Apache
Do you attend rallies and what do you like the most about attending a rally?
Rallies are so great! Meeting new friends and playing music along with local history and seeing the sights make every trip worth it.
Why did you decide to join the Tin Can Tourists?
TCT is everything a club should be…low cost, friendly, informal and informative.
What are your camping plans for this year?
2022 plans include Urban Air at end of April and Western Illinois vintage rally in June. Many State Parks and kayak trips to be planned.
I bought the 64 TradeWind from Steve that he had won in a raffle. I restored it, and we’ve taken it on a 4600-mile shakedown trip to Utah, then to the TCT Gathering at Camp Dearborn in September.
