New Member Interview with Dawn Ridge

Can you tell us about how you got into the vintage trailer hobby?

We bought a 93 Hillcrest in 2019 to do an airbnb and hipcamp business.  So we have 4 campers plus 2 active primitive tent camping sites. We call our sacred space Woodlands Hollow Nature Retreat and it’s 15 minutes from Columbia SC,  25 minutes to the Congaree National Park and the Palmetto Trailhead.

What type of trailers have you owned and what do you have now? What is your dream vintage trailer?

We bought our first camper in 2017. It was a 2018 Grey Wolf by Forest River. It was perfect for the kids, but when Covid-19 hit, we had to downsize our home and our expenses bc we were out of work for 1.5 years. So, we sold the GW.

Now, we own a 73 Bonanza Pinto, a 68 Aristocrat LoLiner, and a 62 Holiday Rambler. I’ve never seen another Rambler like our. Super cool unit. However, we are actually considering selling the LoLiner and the Rambler.

Here is our airbnb link so you can see the interior photos of the 73 Bonanza.

Our dream camper would be a Winnebago Brave or Indian. Would love to find a well maintained vintage motorhome that we can pull to festivals and do events.

What do you tow with?

We tow with our Silverado 2500

Do you attend rallies and what do you like the most about attending a rally?

We haven’t attended one yet, but would love to.

Why did you decide to join the Tin Can Tourists?

We wanted to network with other like minded people.

What are your camping plans for this year?

Once we both are fully recovered from our surgeries….we are ready to go!

  1. I’m a relatively new member as well and I have bought a couple of vintage trailers that I would like to put on our marina property as Airbnb and would love to talk to you about yours and actually consider booking a couple of your vintage units the weekend of the Tennessee South Carolina game which is being played in Columbia I didn’t want to book until I talk with you first and confirmed with my cousin who lives there in Columbia.

I may also be interested in purchasing the two campers that you mentioned you may be getting rid of.
