Can you tell us about how you got into the vintage trailer hobby?
I’ve always been smitten with the the thought of owning a small vessel and being able to travel. I think it Started with the romance of sailing boats. Biking the small villages in Nova Scotia and New Foundland, the people in boats were lovely! Fast forward, spending time in New England and spotting small campers on back roads while running I fell in love. During Covid I found a camper and hunkered down to work on my Ace if Hearts!
What type of trailers have you owned and what do you have now? What is your dream vintage trailer?
I currently have a 13” Ace of Hearts that I use, I just love her! I also pulled home a Metzendorf last year that is fabulous. My dream is to get her done. I don’t have the knowledge and a bit intimidated. My dream would be to work along someone and learn how to work on this rebuild. All her original stuff is there but rebuild from frame up. She’s tiny and so sweet!
What do you tow with?
Currently I have used my son in laws Colorado pick up, great fit for me and hope to purchase one soon if the price of used trucks over come down.
Do you attend rallies and what do you like the most about attending a rally?
I’ve only all ended 2 rallies so far. I was hooked at my very first(Sampson) I love the people, limited use of screens, and the beauty of all vintage that rallies bring.
Why did you decide to join the Tin Can Tourists?
I decided to join TCT because I wanted to stay connected to these wonderful folks I met! Getting older, new chapter in life( divorce) and still love adventure.
What are your camping plans for this year?
My camping plans this year have been close to home. Lake Placid, Bouckville rally( amazing) and on the waitlist at Sampson in sept. If anyone can’t go I would love to take your spot!! Maybe a Fall trip to ADKs.
Nice interview Michelle.
Blessings to you and thanks again for helping me and Bella @ my first Rally.
