2024 TCT Toy Town Rally – RECAP

Submitted by Don Stucke

The 3rd annual Toy Town Rally was a great success. We had about 50 participants with about 25 rigs, some of the first time rigs at the event this year included a recently restored 1955 Silver Dome, a 1956 Sportcraft, and a 1957 Fan.

Thursday was a time to get reacquainted, make new friends, share stories of recent trips, exchange vintage camper knowledge, and get some hands-on help making minor repairs. A group dinner was followed by the formal induction of five new members into the TCT by Royal Chief Don Hoeh (rally co-host) and authorized by Royal Sergeant Harry James (Northeast Regional Rep). TCT fellowship continued at a group campfire later in the evening.

Friday featured some rain and a group tour at the Buffalo Transportation Pierce-Arrow Museum. The museum features transportation history from the Buffalo NY area that includes bicycle
manufacturers, motorcycles, automobiles, and a full-size gas station designed in 1927 by Frank Lloyd Wright. Our custom tour was led by the museum’s founder and included a peek behind the scenes at items in their collection that are not yet on display to the public including a 1937 Pierce Arrow Travelodge trailer and a 1923 Chenango camping trailer that they just acquired. Friday night featured a happy hour with live music under the outside pavilion.

Saturday’s TCT Open House was a great success, we had great weather and it was well attended by members of the local community. We posted the open house notice with several area car show listings and awareness has spread quickly with automobile enthusiasts who now look forward to our event. Saturday night featured a catered dinner and another group campfire.

Thanks to all the attendees for their enthusiasm, willingness to share, and the hands-on help they provided during the event. The more we get together the happier we will be.

We expect to see you all down the road!
