Tin Can Tourists Artifacts

Every now and then we receive an email from a Tin Can Tourists member or from someone that found some Tin Can Tourists artifacts from the early days of the club. We love, love, love getting those emails and pictures of items of the club’s history. Often, they are interested and willing to donate these items to club and happily accept the donations. We store these items with the many for family we have purchased and collected over the 27 years involved in the club. We have quite the collection that we’ve used for historical presentations and activities.

Thank you to Elizabeth Coe, who donated several items that her grandparents had saved from their time in Tin Can Tourists. She was going through boxes and found two different CONSTITUTION BY,-LAWS books and other items. We are really excited to see a Royal Sergeant ribbon and additional membership card designs from the 1940s!

If you have any TCT related items, that you’d like to add to the collection. Please email us at tct1919@gmail.com and we will work with you on the shipping process. If you have an event or activity that you’d like to borrow a TCT artifact, send us an email and let’s talk. We have a current display at the Milbank, South Dakota Visitor Center.

  1. I’m so pleased that you wanted the things that I found. Both sets of my grand parents loved being part of the TCT and I loved hearing their stories about it. They would be thrilled to know that TCT is still going and that they contributed to your history display.
Thank you for all that you do to keep TCT going.

  2. So cool I found two trailers in a scrap yard and grabbed one I believe it’s called The diamond it’s a canned ham with a nice 50s paint job the other one was even smaller but I got there too late and they smashed it but I got the label off of it and that’s really cool I’ll look for other artifacts people throw trailers away here they don’t know what they’re worth

  3. I have an old trailer that’s been on our hunting land for over 50 years. We’re going to remove it. And scrap it out . But at one point one of the TCT members told me that the magazine rack and some of the other fixtures in the trailer were for people looking for these. Who do I contact? I could post a picture of the trailer but I don’t know how to do that on this site.
