Interview with New Members Larry and Gilda Hayworth

Can you tell us about how you got into the vintage trailer hobby?

My wife Gilda and have owned County Line Campground in Summit, SD for 7 years now, but our love for camping started at a young age.

What type of trailers have you owned and what do you have now? What is your dream vintage trailer?

I grew up going camping every summer with my family and the first camper we had was a 1965 Scotty Serro and that was my first exposure to a what I would call a vintage camper. After Gilda and I married, we bought a 1965 Shasta Airflyte and used it for a while for local camping excursions.

My dream camper would be a late 40’s Spartan Manor.

What do you tow with?

We now have 2 1973 Holiday Rambler Vacationers and one of them we take trips with and tow it with our 2016 Chevy Silverado.  The other we rent out here at our campground.

Do you attend rallies and what do you like the most about attending a rally?

We have not attended any rallys yet, but plan to in the future. We would also love to host a rally at our campground in the near future if possible.

Why did you decide to join the Tin Can Tourists?

We joined TCT so that we could find out about rallies to attend and also find out more info on planning for a rally at our park.

What are your camping plans for this year?

We plan a trip to the Black Hills this summer with our 73 Vacationer.

Thank You
