Interview with New Member Cheryl Jungbluth

Can you tell us about how you got into the vintage trailer hobby?

My husband and I enjoy antiques of all kinds and he has restored a couple cars and built a street rod or two.  We love camping and always admired the vintage campers in the parks so we thought it would be fun to restore a vintage camper together for ourselves now that the kids are grown.

What type of trailers have you owned and what do you have now? What is your dream vintage trailer?

We owned an older, but not vintage pop up that we gave away once the cables broke.  We then bought our 1969 Shasta Starflyte and restored what we could and rehabbed what we couldn’t save.  We would someday love a silver bullet, Spartan Manor or possibly an airstream from the 50’s but we are open minded to other options.  The older the better!!

What do you tow with?

We have a 2000 Ford F250 Diesel as a tow vehicle but may start using our 1955 Chevy truck on short trips.

Do you attend rallies and what do you like the most about attending a rally?

We attended our first Rally in Michigan at Hoffmaster State park on June 3rd. We camped outside the area reserved for the vintage campers because we were not sure if we’d fit in or if our camper was nice enough. We spent hours on both Friday and Saturday talking to all the folks with vintage campers. They were some of the nicest people we have ever met!  I can’t wait to go next year and camp with everyone in the vintage area!

Why did you decide to join the Tin Can Tourists?

We joined the TCT group to get information on attending more rallies and meeting new people in the future with very much the same interest as us.

What are your camping plans for this year?

We are booked to attend another Vintage Rally in September and I cant wait.  Otherwise we have several dates reserved at the state campgrounds in Wisconsin through out the summer.

  2. Welcome Cheryl! We are a very welcoming and friendly group. My husband and I had the same thoughts at our first rally over 15 years ago! Now we have close lifelong friends from attending that first rally. Nice to see you at Hofmaster!
