DIARY OF A VINTAGE TRAILER by Dan Tarno 10/8/2012
I have dents and I have dings..
but I have seen amazing things.
From mountain tops to sandy shores,
I’ve seen all that and a whole lot more.
Through long hard days and moonlit nights,
with endless miles and endless sights
I keep my owners safe and sound
‘mong other campers all around.
I am as thankful as can be,
I sat for years beneath a tree,
abandoned and forgotten too,
my framework almost rotten through.
But thoughtful people came my way,
to tow me home one awesome day,
and with much work and money spent,
they fixed me up and away we went!
So if you notice dents and dings,
remember this one little thing….
Im born again, yet wear my scars….
to travel on beneath the stars….

How sweet!
Very well done. My wife and I may post that in our well-loved trailer!
Very nice! I might make it into a plaque or something.
Very nice story. Sounds like our 1967 17 and 1/2 foot Forester that was given to me 4 or 5 years ago. It only has one ding but it’s going to take a bit of work to make it right. Rewiring everything DC fortunately all wiring AC & DC in the walls are intact and sound, just reconnect and shrink wrap. This one has never had a roof leak but most everything will get attention and a fair amount of refinishing.
Repaired the frame that was tweaked and flipped the axel with new brakes. Adding an inverter system with solar panels. I believe it will be a great trailer for here in Alaska.
Hoping to finish up the work by May so we can use it this summer.
Anyway I’m planning on doing a right up to post on this site.
Your post was excellent, I enjoyed reading it.
John
Nice!
Nice! Glad to hear it lives again.
This sounds a lot like the story behind the 1927 Studebaker House Car that I took 8 years to rebuild.
awesome
What a wonderful poem, it sure gives inspiration with restoration of our 1968 Utopia Panoramic “Joy” I hope you don’t mind if I copy it. Thank you for sharing Dan Tarno!
Love the poem. It really fits for my new trailer. I just purchased a 1951 Boles Aero that was refurbished and I’ll be taking her on the road this summer for the first time in 10 years. I named her Lucille after Lucille Ball because of her gas stove…the same one in Lucy’s kitchen on the I Love Lucy show.
Thank you for the inspiration I just scored I believe a 57 Diamond and I was stoked until I looked at it a little closer it has been hacked pretty bad they made a door in the back but the kitchen and stove and cabnets are intact and it is full of junk that I will dispose of maybe I will find a treasure but your poem made me feel so good and inspired me to go further on it! Thank you Matt
