Can you tell us about how you got into the vintage trailer hobby?
We kind of stumbled into it a few years ago when we went to visit Andrew and Amanda Ryan at the Tin Can Rally in Milford. Ryan was Mark’s college roommate in 1986/87. We fell in love with the culture/lifestyle and the campers.
What type of trailers have you owned and what do you have now?
We just bought a 16’ 1958 Ball camper. This is our first. I am also in the process of restoring and converting a 4’x7’ 1950’s covered U- Haul trailer into a farmer’s market retail trailer.
What is your dream vintage trailer?
Not quite sure yet. We haven’t been into this for very long. I am sure we will fall in love with one at the upcoming fall event in Milford.
What do you tow with?
I ordered a new 4-door full size Bronco Black Diamond. Still waiting on it. In the meantime, I tow with a 2022 Ford F-150 and Lincoln Corsair.
Do you attend rallies and what do you like the most about attending a rally?
We have attended a couple rallies as guests of campers Roo and Amanda Ryan. We’ve enjoyed meeting new people and admiring the lifestyle.
Why did you decide to join the Tin Can Tourists?
Once we purchased our camper we knew we needed to join the group for the amazing resources and existing and new friendships.
What are your camping plans for this year?
We’re planning a couple weekend trips. The first is to the cheeseburger festival next month in Caseville Michigan.
Thank you for the interview. We are also attending the Fall Rally at Camp Dearborn in Milford, Michigan. We live 5 miles from there!
