I attended the seminar. I had my Airstream appraised, was all ready to sign up with Hagerty, I gave them all my information and was told their insurance was still not available in New York State.
Hi Fred- you might to watch the video again. You don’t need an appraisal and New York State is in red on the map she reviewed which indicates it is one of the last states that will become available.
I’m going to reach out to Haggerty, . If the coverage is “Stated Value” vs “Agreed Value”, I’m not sure how they can value a risk without some sort of an appraisal
Thanks!
The vintage trailer hobby is now just over twenty years old. It’s good to see a gold standard company like Hagerty finally enter the field for our collector needs. After Hagerty assembles a good sample of restored vintage trailers they will be able to establish a “Black Book (for vintage camper trailers)” for the good/better/best values. They have done this already in the collector car/truck/motorcycle segment. It’s a large undertaking, my guess taking years to assemble. Most trailer change hands for cash with no, or little documentation, not like on the large auction sites like cars. Until then, I would only be comfortable using a Certified Appraiser to document and establish the vehicle value for insurance purposes. It’s nice that they will write a policy without the added cost of a independent appraisal, but why would you take the chance of buying less coverage than you need to cover your investment?
Campsite, or some may call it Vacation Liability rider is a very important part to the process of obtaining the correct type of coverage on your vintage camp trailer. Under $25k in liability/medical liability coverage seems rather insufficient? Other policies offer $100K for only $6/year additional.
